You are right, the standing figure on the left should not be there - but the image of the reclining model on the left is a valuable addition in my opinion. Just happened to be a double portrait of the model with her sister. For a book cover it would be beter to concentrate the right hand side of the picture, or let the left side be on the back of the book.
The view through the strings of the harpist I find interesting, the sense of detachment it gives.

Imaginative idea - and it does work. The harp strings in front of the harpist are really effective, but personally I'd have been tempted to miss out the figures on our left and just concentrate on Miss Harpist and the rather sensual figure right stepping out from her. It's an exciting picture, though, and I can easily imagine it as forming the basis of a book cover.
