I don't understand this. The one being eaten has a larger head than the one who is doing the eating. Terrific capture Pierre. Very good nature shot.

They sure are amazing insects, Mary, ... very powerful. I was quite amazed to see this too! It almost seemed like this one hadn't eaten in about a week ;0)

Thanks much!

Awesome, Pierre! Your detail is fabulous. Great timing for this shot. It's amazing the mantis can catch and eat something so big in comparison to itself. Fabulous shot.

Thanks Ivo! This Mantis was fascinating to watch as it devoured the cricket. I was impressed at his strength and huge appetite!

Hmmmmm..... a Krispy Kreme doughnut that's about half my size? Mmm.... one can always dream :0)

Excellent capture and great timing, Pierre. The lighting and details are superb. I`m impressed with the size of the cricket compared with the size of the mantis. That`s like if you would eat a crispy creme doughnut that`s half your size ;-O

Hi Todd,

Thanks! As for the focus, the mantis kept moving a lot as it balanced itself in the wind. The cricket is slightly out, but that's probably a good thing. The poor thing being chewed up did not look pretty at all.
