Peter, a large memory card should be your first investment... once you shoot RAW you cannot go back. I cannot beleive how much detail I was losing shooting jpg, so now, I never use it. Recently, I purchased a 4GB Microdrive for about $170... it has improved my photography immensely, just by being able to shoot in 16-bit all the time. IR is a nice investment though, I am just getting into that (and lugging the tripod with me everywhere). cheers, t

Thank you for your extensive comments Taran, i can read you are well known to the subject .. Well, as you could indeed notice, i tend to focus on the large elements in the landscape .. i also tend to minimise or darken the less important details to almost silhouettes, in these cases the trees .. i always love textures in fields, in the sky and things like that, where my personal appreciation is playing a big role.. i mostly use levels, curves and usm, either one of them or all together, where appropriate. Well noticed, you are a good observer. PS: i don't use RAW, my memory card is rather small (512k).. this year i invested in IR photography, perhaps next year is overhaul time for my 300D ;-)

Your obsession with contrastiness yields some excellent, film-like results from your digital Peter, I like the fact you are into creating deep blacks... this is another excellent, geometrically wonderful, and high dynamic range photo. There is though, the problem of losing shadow detail. I am sure you are aware of this, but dodging those first couple of trees on the bottom left before you apply your contrast enhancements might yeild additional definition to your foreground. As it is now, the four trees on the left bottom render as black blobs. Again, this is just my opinion to dodge these, you probably want them as silohuettes, and I am not sure my way would look better, lol, but I thought I would mention it, just to nitpick :) Thanks for sharing. Hope you don't mind, but I am gonna add you to my friends.

A marvelous shot, Peter. As an old modeler I thought it looked like a model setup too...before I read your "about"! I like the composition. Very nicely done! Regards and thanks for your comments, Larry.

See what you mean Petal .. the little white line is escaped from my attention.. about the foreground, i wanted to keep more of the rolling golden field.. your version is definitely as strong, with even more focus on the road .. Peter

Great shot!!! Lovely colors and textures, excellent composition... well spotted!!! BTW it really does kind of look like a tiny landscape... ;-D!!! And you know I like to crop... so I took the liberty to 'do it again'... thought it would look great if the road started out of the corner and you also get rid of that tiny white line just above the road at the top.... have a look, hope you don't mind... ;-D!!!

lovely scenery - like the road here and these trees; for the composition I would consider to crop the upper black part of the shot cause it distract the view a little bit too strong; anyway, well spotted regards Lukasz

Excellent capture of the texture and colours of the landscape, Peter! I like the way the winding road leads the eye through the image, with the toylike trees adding interest along the way. Dave.
