We have a GBH living down the road in the marshy area. They are truly wonderful birds. Although gangly, they have a gracefulness. This is a terrific shot, Marcus. Great timing.

You captured her perfectly. (I think it is a female?)
I was chasing one around on Thursday in the kayak. When I finally got close enough, all set up with multiple exposure, I was just about ready to start shooting when a beaver splashed it's tail about 25 feet from the kayak. It scared the crap out of me... and the heron. The heron took off, and I good three great shots of a blank sky. :)
True story.
