I have been doing a lot of work with B&W lately. Finally got my printer, Canon i9900 inkjet to do good B&W. Found its the paper and ink combination. You must use the original ink, not 3rd party substitutes. Also its the paper. Ilford Smooth Pearl or Kodak Professional Lustre works great. Glossy is a little too bright.
