Hey Randy,
You are a man after my own heart seeing the beauty of a place and caring what happens to it. Thanks for sending me the update on Hanging Rock. I'd love to see it someday. Now I'm curious where you are in Oregon. In my hippie days I almost settled there to teach school but eventually ended up in Canada instead.
Hopefully you will share some new images with us one of these days.
Cheers - Bill

I can see why Randy. I have been told many times to explore this part of the country. It seems like it would be well worth it,
Cheers, Chris

Excellent view. My brothers and I are planning a visit to Orgegon next year, nothing specific yet. You have captured a beautiful landscape, even with the hippie. Thank you for commenting on my image,
My compliments,

Yup......... Dressed in my Oregonian standard flannel shirt, boots... left the .44 at home that day so I wouldn't frighten the bears and cougars. We dress this way for fine dining too. (pizza) :) This would be a great backdrop to view a shuttle launch. :) :)

The view in this and the other photo is at the end of a short side trail off the main trail, known as the Panther Ridge Trail. It's about 30 miles SE from the little town of Powers. Probably just a 25 minute hike uphill from the gravel road at the trailhead. The drive from here in Coos Bay takes close to 2 1/2 hours. This trail is on the border of the Rogue Wilderness Area. It is the best viewpoint I have seen in that area by far....... especialy early morning, late afternoon, or when there is a wee bit of snow. I will see if I can find another worthy photo to add.

You will recognize a similar shot in my portfolio from the same day and location.......... without that hippie.... yes... me! It was a facinating afternoon. Took my brother up there for the first time. The changing light was to die for. We saw some optical phenomina looking downward from up there that I had never seen before in all my years of hiking around. A fogbow and a Glory. I may post another photo from up there tomorrow.
