hi fan, just wanted top let you know i've been in dunhuang now for three days and will go back to lanzhou tomorrow. i loved it in dunhuang. the scenery is fantastic.... james

Hi James, thanks for your comment. The place I took this shot is very close to Dunhuang Grottos, the main interest scenery spot. Fly to Dunhuang directly or via Langzhou in Gansu province. Dunhuang used to be a town but now a small city where you can find a lot of hotels as tour base place. From there you can go to different places such as the place in the picture I took. It is called Sounding Sands Mount. It is close to Grottos. Have a pleasant journey.

this shot shows the vast expanse that is the desert in gansu. thanks for posting this shot. i'll be in gansu in less than two weeks and want to photograph the exact same scenes. if you have any ideas on where i should go near dunhuang, please let me know.
