Very nice and dramatic composition here....excellent sky and minimalist foreground. The blue outline I don't think adds an aweful lot to the shot. Wonder what it looks like in BW?
Thanks for your comments on Festival Lights...I'm in a group called The Fabulous Fezheads..see www.fezheads.com for more details.
Cheers for now

Nice color saturation. The vertical orientation is very effective, emphasizing the dramatic clouds above. Eric

Fine shot and I also like Carsten's B&W version. I'd have cloned out the flare though.

Ctrl Alt ` then feather highlights and use curves to keep them the way you want. That short key just selects highlights. Or you could copy highlights into a different layer and blend back in the way you want. Great shot, love the composition.

the foreground is way better. I think it highlights the lack of suitable colour contrast in the original. One of the reasons why I held back on adding more contrast to my original shot is because the highlights would become way too much. Still an interesting insight - thanks for taking the time to do it.

The layers technique works also well for B&W with different tonal needs on foreground and sky. I tried a red filter for the sky and a green filtered, more contrasty layer for the ground - and like it. What do you think ?

Interesting views. I thought of the b&w but the blue was too rich to leave out. As I said I am tiring of snapshots - I have a few more challenging assignments on the horizon though. Many thanks for the contructive comments.

The wide angle FOV and the emphasis on the sky conveys a nice feeling of vastness and space. Maybe I would have tried out a wee bit more contrast for the foreground (soft light or color dodge blended layer mask). Ans I wouls play with B&W conversion, for sure. Anyway, a very good shot for a snapshot ;-)

This does have the potential for a great landscape, Shane. The foreground interest in the form of the sand, and the superb clouds in the sky.

Nice perspective, but I think it would be better if the frame was not so thick.
