I think it IS the nostalgia that makes the picture so emotive. My Uncle Doyle, whom I am named after, was the only one of five boys to survive his military service. He lost his leg in the Battle of the Bulge. I knew him well and for a long time . . . he having lived to 2002. If only it was the "War to end all wars".

Dear Doyle, I would like you to see this shot with my eyes... Imagine that the children are our parents, after the D-day, and imagine that their smiles are the future that is coming soon. We are their sons, 61 years later,in a world of peace (?)...

For some inexplicable reason I keep getting drawn back to this image.....it seems to strike some emotive response and I'm not sure why . . . but I do like it. Sorry I can't be more specific; I wasn't going to comment since I can't give a reason, but I did want you to know that I liked this shot.
