Yes Jim I was on planet earth, even though it can be so boring at times...LOL! My husband tells me that this is a Mexican Bird of Paradise.

This is an amazing flower but it doesn't look like a Bird of Paradise. I've never seen anything like it either. You were on planet earth when you took the picture weren't you? :-)

Thanks Lisa! I had never seen anything like it either. I'm an Oklahoma girl and we didn't have plants like these when I was growing up. I found these at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix. You should visit there the next time you're in Arizona.

Not the Bird of Paradise I'm used to seeing, but this flower is simply stunning. I've never seen anything like it ever. The red things coming out make it look unreal, yet I know it is. What luck to stumble across such a beauty.
