Location City -  Grand Portage
State -  MINNESOTA
Country - United States   United States
About Hiked into this falls last week, The River is the Border between Minnesota and Canada. So to the right is Canada and to the left USA.
These Falls, and rapids upstream are the reason the French fur traders had to estabish the " Grand Portage " Or Great Carry, between Lake Superior and the upper reaches of the river on thier way to Hudson Bay.
This is the highest falls in the state of Minnesota, at 120 Feet.
Located in the Grand Portage State park, the falls even though over 1/2 mile from the road, are handicapped accessible. the path is blacktopped to within 100 yards of the viewing platform, then changes to a wooden walkway with railings protecting anyone from falling off.

Nice falls Jim and the rainbow is a great addition to the composition. You just have to be at the right place at the right time.

The view and this image are simply SPECTACULAR Jim. What more can I say.
I'd never heard the term Grand Portage until a few weeks back when there was a TV prog of a guy building a canoe and he explained all about it . Totally fascinating and absorbing.

Jim My word these fall look spectacular and the rainbow too. It is a great composition, but I find it even more interesting as we were watching a programme about the Grand Portage - he made the canoe and went the route - very interesting - just like you liked the narrow boat shot and and just been watching a programme about them :)
