This is our first, but hopefully not last meeting on the pages of "Usefilm" Ms. Schembri and you are my first UF acquaintance from Malta, a fact I learned from opening your photos, as it was not specified in your bio. I read your bio in which you said that you wanted to learn photography on this site, as there were no professional photographers on your Island. I also looked at your portfolio, which so far contained less than one page, but that page told me that you had all the insticts and qualifications needed to be a good photographer. You have a sense for the use of light, the essence of photography. This is evident in the photo I am commenting on, you have a sense for composition combined with a sense of humor, as can be seen in your "Hey, are you coming up" and for the use of space and depth, as can be seen in your "Jet lag." I may not be a good example, but except for a few photoshop lessons I never learned photography except by trial and error. Your photos show a diversity of subjects, all captured in good taste, so please forget about learning from a professional photographer. I'm afraid it might spoil your spontaneity. This does not mean that you cannot learn from looking at other photographers' photos, but systematic learning, I would not advise in your case. Having said that, you are, of course, invited to read my bio and pay further visits to my portfolio. In the meantime I thank you for your kind comment on my "Our window." Best regards, Dr Rafael (Rafi for future communications) Springmann
