About PAPER DRAGONS
In March, kites bite the wind
and shake their paper scales.
They strain against their fiber chains
to free their dragon tails.
(Susan Alton Schmeltz)

This poor kite must have recently been tangled in the tree, I saw 4 others in nearby trees. Taken at Cove Island Beach.

The colors are stark and inviting. Your choice of perspective is excellent on this one. Well seen.

This is a really good photo, Alison! I love the way the kite and the budding leaves on the tree are backlit - it gives the scene a wonderful, fresh 'spring' feeling! Trees seem to have a way of attracting kites, kind of like the way rooftops attract frisbees (known as 'roof-suck' :)
Sorry I haven't been commenting recently!

Poor kid lost his dragon, but you made an excellent photo of his loss. Did you show him/her the photo? it might console him/her. When it was still relatively safe for Israselis to go to Indonesia, we approched Bali and the whole sky was covered by these dargons, a sight I'll never forget.
Thank you for your very kind comments on my "In Memoriam 2 and 3."
I took photos long before I took "In Memoriam 3." I started at about age 10 with a box camera and was the happy beyond description when I discovered what a green or yellow filter can do to a colouded sky.
Best regards,
Rafi

The kite somewhat adds colour to the black tree trunks. Nice.

It is the time of year for kites. I hope the child has another one. Nice capture.
