Thanks for the explanation, Stefan... I was wondering if it was a bad thing to have this many strange bokeh... but the lens is Nikon quality. I'm glad to know that it isn't something frowned upon! Cheers Kim

I am a big fan of interesting bokeh and this certainly fits the bill. It is simply unusual to me and I will have to try to find other using the same lens...

I don't mind at all, Jim! Spread the puppy-love! I am heading out again in a month to another breeder's house, and once more at the end of the summer... then I'll have enough good shots to submit to the calendar companies. Thanks for the comment!

Are you finding that the bokeh are too much? I think it was because I was at f1.8 - f2.8 for most of the morning that they are so noticeable. Next time I'll have to try with a bit more depth of field (hopefully I have that option with the amount of light on the day) Thanks for the framing suggestion... I was trying for a bit tighter framing on some of these so with the dog's head in the middle I would have had to be a lot wider. Thanks for the comment!

How can you go wrong with puppies :-) I am still a little surprised by the bokeh of your lens. Will have to pay attention to other peoples work with this lens. maybe framing the dog's head in the center of the image would have been an alternative?
