Hi Mark,
thanks a lot for your great words... As you probably know, Holga is not that known at Usefilm, so I decided to mention that ;-)
best thing was that one guy here started to crop out the vignetting ;-)
best wishes,
thilo

Scratches, dust specks need no apologies my friend. We answer only to the genre of toycamera photography. One of the strengths of the Holga is its ability to portray silhouetted forms according to how "we" see it. It doesn't need to be sharp, it needs to be the thing in our minds.

Hi Peter,
while Holgas are toys technically, I would not say that the photos are not serious ;-)
It makes fun to photograph and to look for creepy places. that's something I wouldn't do in detail with my D70.
So I take the Holga as serious fun, if you know what I mean. It's not the technique, but the outcome that is important.
best wishes.

Hi Thilo! Been away...miss your awesome work! I see that rare dychotemy of the peaceful image of the palm tree....mixed with a very mysterious and ominous darkness. Hmmmmmm.....intriguing and disturbing, and wonderful! ..Brad

Thilo, There is a certain type of charm that comes from this type of photo. There is something about the faults that add to the capture of the moment. You could edit out the faults if you choose to, but even then, something is lost. Andre

Thilo and Holga . A very good combination for a dream like photo world. I like the raw feeling of the photo. Also I like the fingerprint that your holga has. The lense blends the trees into the light of the night. Cheers friend.

I love throwback pictures. This is evocative of the really early days of photography.
I also happen to love high contrast images. Nice work, Thilo.

Are you starting with this camera "toy" too .. ha, this kind of pictures has character, i must admit, but if i find them beautiful that is another matter .. well, that's probably why you use a category "Holgafun" for .. i understand you consider it to be a "toy" too.. Peter

Hi Arwa,
this message is not for my friends. I know that they are honest. the message is foremost for new viewers. it's important for me not getting the typical "super shot" feedback.
thx for the nice words =)

The plastic lends softness to the contrast and for all I know the "flaws" in the emulsion could be stars - it's Holga alright! Very nice.

You have a great fantasy as well dear Thilo! Thats good! For me: i think of a foreign country, sleeping in a bungalow, can?t sleep and take a nightwalk and listen to all the sounds from the nature, and not seeing in the darkness. Could also be scary if you don?t like the darkness. Excellent Holga shot thilo.

Mysterious And its as beautiful as your brighter side
thilo...Why do you keep saying in your about ?Honest feedback highly appreciated.? You don?t feel that people are being honest when they are saying that your work is out standing! I admire your work and the way you keep changing your techniques and views! And I bet you many other do too
Anyway back to the image When shooting with holga apart from the composition and perspective you don?t have much control over the image ,am I right? At this situation you have created an excellent sharp image! your getting better by the day my friend :) 7/7
