What an absolutely stunning photo. I am not sure what to say except that the exposure, composition and colours are perfect. This location looks to be the budding photographer's dream. I hate to say it but I don't think where I live in England has anything to match such natural beauty.

A cracker, Pat. Love the simplicity of the foreground and the contrast of white with the vibrancy of the sunrise/set.

Your work is the best of the best. I wish to someday emulate this type of quality. I wish you would write articles about just exactly how you acheive these amazing results. What are you using to fine tune your work??

Cameny, I may be able to explain how that happens. I rarely actually rate an image unless I'm really, really impressed with it, so my ratings are usually all sixes and sevens. But Usefilm thinks this means I am a "high" or "flattering" marker, and downgrades my ratings. Looking at how overall ratings are affected by my personal ratings, it seems as if my "7" has about as much effect as a 5.5 or 5.8. Maybe I should stop rating altogether? But Patrick's beautiful shots seldom merit less than a "7" so what can I do? I really don't feel like looking for bad photos so that I can give a lot of fours and fives to even things out...

Once again one perfect image Patrick. Just too perfect. I wonder to the people they are giving ratings bellow 7 for photos like this.

Great shot. Good job of getting the setting sun tigether with the snow, your settings paid off. Nice how the low angle of the sunlight highlights the ripples in snows surface. Well done. Excellent composition.

Thank you Gayle and Phil for your great comments. You are right Phil about the unrealistic part. I was completely amazed by it also. This Park is Greattt. too bad I only had 2 days to capture it.

Patrick i enjoy your work at white sands New Mexico so much, it reminds me of when i was there on my long cross country trip. such a unrealistic national park it is... but you capture it so beautifuly.. wonderful work and great lighting on this one. i love the different tonal ranges hit dead on in the sand. and great saturation and color on the stark white sand as well.
congrats on another wonderful capture phil swanson
