It looks like a very old pot with a long history. Filled with beautiful flowers once, then with dead ones. Now resigned, understanding that what was once thought so important never really was. Comfortable with hard-won wisdom.

I know the pain of emptiness and loniness. My dreams have not been realized, dont know if they ever will be. I hope and pray for you, that yours will be, that your heart will be healed, that your emptiness will be filled. Jim Gamble

Can an old garden pot hold all of our past hopes and dreams. It is so dark inside and rough on the outside just as some moments of life are. All that is left of those dreams are now only whispers. The simplicity of this photo holds the intricate complexity of emotions.

Excellent photo, Gayle! And I love the comment Dottie left by Gibran. They seem to go together, don't they? I love the tone and texture of this, great job! Carolyn

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;
And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.
And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief. Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquillity:
For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen,
And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears. Gibran
Gayle, This too shall pass, and you will come out stronger, wiser & you will know yourself in a whole new way. Wonderful photo my friend... Dottie

Terrific texture -- but its so sad that the past hopes and dreams are empty, dark and barren. Unfortunately I do understand; but FORTUNATELY there now IS a magic rainbow filling my pot with gold.
