I like the grain on this---it gives it a certain nostalgic look and works very well. The motion blur of the train is excellent. I'm really liking this.

Sean, thanks for your comment. I see what you mean by the post in the lower left being distracting. As for getting higher to frame more of the tracks, that cant be done here because of the position of the tracks being elevated above ground. The train was comming toward me in this shot, so getting it earlier in the frame would have set it further back in the frame making it harder to see. Next time I have the chance to shoot this again, I'll use a slower shutter speed to have the train moving through the whole frame. That big white spot is a early moon rise. Thanks again for your suggestions, will keep them in mind next time. Jim Gamble

there's something missing jim i'm just not able to pinpoint it. the trestle is a great lead in for the eye but the post in the lower left is a distraction for me. is the big white spot an early moon rise? i think 2 things would benefit this image.
1) getting a little bit of a higher angle, if possible. i think seeing more of the tracks and train would be good.
2) getting the train a little earlier in the frame. i'm guessing it was heading away from you.

I followed your instructions and was impressed with the depth you achieved. You have taken in the whole area thus putting thing in perspective. Del.
