Looks like a moth to me, it has the classic triangular shape wings that seem to be their hall mark - mind you it could be a moth shaped butterfly! ;~}

Paul--I'm not sure about the light. Come to think of it, I'm not even dead certain it's a moth! At any rate, they are common in the garden and seem quite comforfortable in the daylight. Maybe a photographer/entomologist will give us the correct information . . . Thanks
