Very nice flower macro Jim, I also like how the petals look like thick, heavy velvet. I think the softness Stephen mentions could easily be sorted with a little "unsharp mask" in photoshop. The background is good too, the leaves attached to this flower are just identifiable but everything else is very blurred and not distracting at all.

Nice, imaginative shot. Seems like it might be just a tad soft. It does have a velvety look.
