Hi Julia.. I guess u took this picture in the mid day time around 12-2.. well have got this tip on usefilm.. try avoiding shooting potrait in this time..
The shadows here are probably due to the light of the sun which happens to be overhead...
If the need arises.. use a reflector to reflect the sunlight on to the face of the sculpture.. this will help in lighting of the face.. and hence will not have so many dark shadows.
Hope this will help..! BTW... its a nice sculpture..
Thanks for ur comment..on my image!

Thanks for your comment Eric. I attached the picture in color. I didn't knowt that if i had taken it on a clowdy day that i would have gotten more detail. I am just learning. I just that would be the case beause I have to many showows. There really wasn't a lot a detail in in the statue in my opinion. but may be i did miss the face which yes i agee is too dark. thanks for your comment. I looked at your portfolio great pictures. thanks for your comment. julia

ewww in public? Very interesting statue. I would retake this during a clowdy day maybe? shadows just seem too dark for me, would like to see the detail in there.
