Beautiful scene. It has a great presence. As to how to handle it, I'm still working on it. For tricky scans, Silverfast SE provides a lot of control--usually more than I know how to handle. So--for what it's worth, here's my quick-and-dirty treatment with CS Levels and Shadow/Highlight adjusments. Those are two of my standbys these days for problem exposures. This is a great shot even as is--very evocative.
Andree, I like what you've done with the place. Just wondering, what was the workflow on this? I usually crop if needed, adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, resize, USM. -mm
How you had to deal with difficult lighting, I really like the overall effect in this shot. It is bright and feels natural. The overall image could be balanced in Photoshop. Maybe something like this......
