About This is a scan and is not as clear as the original (can't seem to figure out my new scanner). Took this photo on my honeymoon in Maui (August 2000). The sky was just amazing at the time.

hi Eric ! this is a stunning sky and like the way the palms reach up. one nit pick is to tilt the image a bit in PS to straighten out the horizon. great placement of the horizon though !

Wow... Didn't really notice how off the horizon was. Thanks for the pointers.

Eric:

Good shot, centered on the composition, and good contrast - looks like you could go for a pure white in some areas, but overall a really nice photograph. Looks like the matte finish added a bit of a grainly look to the photo, which is odd, because the effect is almost like a storm situation...

I like the sky, I do have to say the horizion is maybe not level, but does add to the drama. Very good - next opportunity try a rule of thirds or fouths composition maybe?

I just ran into a problem with corrupt files, and was happy that I shot so much that one turned out OK and I was able to post it...

Welcome Eric. It's not like it lacks tonal range is it? I have been told scanning from negatives can require finishing to fix that issue.
Slip it in photo help category and I always get help. Lots of people generous with their time here if you ask. sadly I have the time but no expertise.

No, part of the problem was that the print was on Matte finish paper. The uneveness of the paper messes with this scanner. It make it look like there is a lot of dust on the photo, which is not the case. I think I just need to play with it. Thanks for your comments!

I'm "okay" with the trunks. There was much more detail in the original. They were also less washed out. I really need to learn how to use my scanner. Or become Photoshop profissiant. But, if you have some photo tips about the trunks, then I'm all ears!

It is an amazing. Sky. You unhappy with how the trunks came out?
