About Reposted as my entry for 'best photo of 2004'. It was a tricky choice; I went for this for several reasons. First, it was taken with my new digital camera, and shows what can be done with a simple digital image by adjusting the contrast/brightness; it's not a shot I'd have produced before getting a digital. Also, it was taken in a different way to most of my shots, which are not usually premeditated. This, however, was taken after a friend requested a shot of cobblestones to accompany a poem of hers. Although I was sceptical whether I'd be able to take something interesting of such a subject, this gave me faith that working with an idea or subject in mind can be fruitful. And of course, it was taken locally, and that's always a nice thing :)

Very nice, Phil. Makes good use of the generous DOF on digital cams.

Great shot. Edinburgh abounds with photo opportunities, but it takes talent to find the ones like this. Well done.

A "study" in lines, curves, shadows, and geometry, in general.... This is so well done, Phil! Frame it and hang it...it deserves to be showcased. ..Brad
