This is a awonderful scene and the light and the colours give a very dense, captivating atmosphere, creating emotional value. Especially the addition of a dramatic moving effect (tracKs? of the ducks) make this apparently simple animal portrait to a more complex composition. Very nice!
The 300 f4 L is an excellent lens and I think that you should be able to get asharper picture with it, though ( the only little flaw since focus annd depth of field could be enhanced here) But excellent shot.
