Thanks for trying though... Perhaps it's just too large, or perhaps they are having issues again. Dottie

Definitely a different feel to it. Darker, not as peaceful, but I like it also. This has been fun & educational getting different artist's opinions. Thanks All. Dottie

Chris, Your photo didn't come out...too large perhaps? I'd love to see your version. Dottie

Hi Dottie, I like the color version, with it's nice ornage glow. But, if you were going to mess around w/ post-processing, here is what I would probably do: sepia tone, with a duplicate layer w/ a guassian blur on it, desaturated and set to luminosity blend mode at an opacity of around 30 percent.

Love this, Dottie, although I have to say I prefer the color version. It's so warm and the light is wonderful.

First I copied the red channel into a new picture. Then I copied the green channel into another picture. Then I copied the red channel into the second picture as a new layer. Then I slowly adjusted the fill factor until satisfaction. Then I adjusted the levels to clip slightly on the light and dark sides. Then I adjusted the curves every so slightly for the midtones. Next I merged the layers together. Then to tint the image I went into the channel mixer and adjusted the blue up. I don't remember the exact values though.
In general there are several ways to convert a color image to a b&w image. However, you get the worst results by just selecting "Image", "Mode", and then "Grey Scale".

Yours has a bit more luminance, I like it. Do you remember which filter you used and what the percentage is? Plus, what is the best way to convert to B&W, anybody out there know? Dottie

That's a BIG compliment from you Rebecca, since I think you take some of the finest "homey" looking & lovely landscapes I've ever seen. Thanks, Dottie

Well, I also tried to manipulate the image into B&W with a blue tone, but I didn't come up with anything too much better than your version. Attached is my attempt.

I like the warm colours of the, I'm sure, afternoon sun, Dottie. They contrast nicely with the dark clouds in the background. The colour of the foliage really contributes to the atmosphere. Great composition, as well. Dave.

I like the colors just as they are, and the lighting. I think had the fences been a little more in focus, it would have been much better. But the entire scene is very pleasing and has a feeling of coming home. I love it!

Thanks for your comment. The composition was a bit limited, since I was at a Stop sign, and leaning out the window. LOL, but would have defintely loved to have taken more shots at different angles. Thanks, Dottie

I like the colors, simplicity, and overall mood of the image. I think that it could have been a slightly stronger composition if you stepped a couple feet closer and made the fence a prominent element in the foreground. Otherwise, I think it looks excellent.

Here's the B&W version, I played around with some filters, and believe I put a cooler color on. See what you think, and play a bit with the original if you'd like, I thought it might make a good B&W, but not quite sure how to get the effect I'm looking for. Dottie
