Kurt, I don't like rules. They are there to be broken. I get into a lot of trouble because of that. But if it works for me...what the heck. LOL!!

Judi, this is a very fine portrait. You've succeded in following one 'rule' and breaking another. The image has been simplified to include only what is necessary in the frame but the subject is looking out of, rather than into, the frame. I don't remember how many books I've read that tell us to have our subject looking into the frame and to give them plenty of space to look into. Many times that is good advice and it works well. This is a perfect example of how to break a 'rule' and acheive true art rather than simply another portrait. But then, the Judi I'm learning to appreciate usually makes up her own 'rules' anyway. : ) Excellent! Kurt

You have used a posture which I really like in porttraits - i.e. the face resting on a hand. Together with the colour, this creates a very pensive mood. Excellent work.

Thanks Den. It originally was posed but she lost her concentration and I got this shot.

Thankyou Patrick. She was torn between smiling and looking angry for another shot I needed. Hmmm...now that sounds familiar...!

Thankyou Saeed. I felt she deserved to completely fill the image. A frame wasn't justifiable in this case.
