This is terrific for DOF with the blurred throat and immediate background. . .I very much like introspective work.

You must be an Adonis. Which photograph wouldn't like to photograph you?!
I wish I were there, Patrick.

Patrick,
I feel a tighter crop would work better, also slightly darker and the light area above your shoulder even a little darker. The selective blur you used is ok but with the darker image, it would be better without the blur. This definitely is one of your better self portraits because I like the "candid" quality of it - it looks very natural and "unposed". Good work.

Hmm, hard to smile on command? Well I have an idea! To make yourself smile think of some bunnies jumping in the field! One of them falls down and the others fall on it!

I think you did well listening to Pia's advices :-). This one is the best of the three in my opinion. The cropping is one thing, but the espression is the best too. Very nice toning makes this one an impressive self. congrats.

Good! The disconnected look in your eyes (not literally, but in terms of not making eyecontact with the viewer) creates a very good introvert atmosphere. The DOF is very well handled... Just wished you would add the camera settings too, as they provide some very valuable information on how to assess a photo.

Cheers,

Hugo
