Really cool abstract! Great DOF and sharpness, and I love the colours, like slow sticky fire. Nice one!

To my mind, this is the perfect abstract and the perfect macro. The color just glows ... a favorite. :)

This is absolutely wonderful Kim! I love the pattern-- very dynamic, and the colors are outstanding with perfect sharpness and DOF. This one is going in my favorites for "inspiration".
Thanks, and cheers. Craig

I am drawing a blank on a title too :-) Very creative with the background though. If you are going for more shots like this, try some strong backlighting as well - maybe ligth-table, sweater, glass, jello/syrup (in that order :-)

I'm up for experimenting if you are!!! Perhaps a weeknight, depending on your schedule... jello, cornsyrup, maple syrup... it could be fun, and if not, it'll at least be tasty!

Ooo! Ooo! I've got one! How about "Amoebic"?
For being at +4, this shot is super sharp! You've managed to get the entire foreground plane in focus, which is rather jealousy-inducing. :-p
The way the syrup collects and refracts colour and light is super interesting. Using lamplight only heightens the warm tones. I like Mary Sue's suggestion about using different mediums in the same way. Perhaps some Jello is in order? (Just kidding . . . maybe!)

Kim, this is a cool abstract. It reminds me of stained glass. Your process (corn syrup on glass, colorful sweater as background) sounds creative.
It makes me think of other possibilities: colored oils, different color syrups, etc. All sorts of possibilities are there for the cold winter months!

hahaha, ewwww! This was actually corn syrup on glass, not maple, but I should try maple syrup.. it could be very fun!

This was actually made with corn syrup drawn on a piece of glass, raised about 3 feet off the ground, and my sweater which has great reds, oranges and browns on the ground underneath. I think I'm going to have to explore the corn syrup drawings again, now that the colder weather is creeping in. I was wondering about the title as well, but I couldn't come up with something creative.... ironic, eh? Any suggestions?

Wow. This is so cool. Now, this is good old maple syrup right? Cause otherwise I'm gonna feel pretty silly for licking the screen. Perhaps I should feel silly anyway, but this is a wonderfully creative image you have made. Glad you went through the archives.

Yes this is nice. Wondering if telling us that it is syrup is a good thing - it loses a little bit of its mystique that way. But if you are confessing anyway - what did you put in the background? ;-)
