About I have great admiration for those talented photographers who do nothing but shoot pictures of the world at its worst ~ reminding us that there's a lot of hurting people out there and challenging us to get involved. We all need that kind of image thrust before us on a regular basis, I'm sure?

But I just can't bring myself to take them ~ or even to try! Our TVs and newspapers confront us with violence, heartache and grinding poverty on a daily basis, so I'm afraid I can't bear to shoot anything but beauty.

So for all you folks out there who are rightly burdened by the plight of the homeless and dispossessed, the victims of violence and disaster, this shot is for you! I want to 'say it with flowers' ~ to say that we need always to keep a balance in our lives between the ugly and the beautiful. Let's celebrate beauty wherever we find it ~ in the tiniest flower and the mightiest mountain!

My best to you all,

Chris

P.S. This is the new part of Brunel Manor, the conference centre I was speaking and singing at last week.

This is beautiful. I noticed mostly the cross in the windows; it adds even more beauty to the architecture. The grass seems to frame it all.

Hi Chris
Whilst I agree with your comments and this shot is one of beauty...it is still man-made. Would it not be great to see what images you could capture with your very talented photographic eye that are not full of "beauty"?
Why not set yourself a project around the opposite to beautiful landscapes etc and see what comes out? I think you might be amazed at the results.
For purely selfish reasons, with your distinct style, I would love to see the results.

Cheers

Manu

One of the gifts of photography is to see the beauty - and it is everywhere. Today as we drove home I marvelled at how many more Spring flowers there are this year (Spring here in Oz right now). We've had a fairly grey dismal winter and I guess people have planted more flowers to brighten their spirits. Well my suburb is amass of colour and it is beautiful - my husband hadn't noticed because he doesn't think through the viewfinder!!
Chris this is a beautiful scene which you have captured beautifully, I really love the diagonal line of flower baskets across the frame and the framing of hte longer grass in the foreground. Honestly - I'm not keen on the frame itself but that is only my humble opinion. Cheers.

Beautiful photo Chris, love the composition and the colours.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say it is always great to visit your portfolio - a refreshing experience and of course the occasional, excellent humour lol

And humour is what I need before I start my last nightshift

Best wishes,
Steve

Chris, this is a great antidote to the journalistic images we see. I love the repetition and colour of those pillars, punctuated by the hanging baskets. Nicely spotted and nicely captured.

Hi Chris, love the perspective and tones in this one. The frame, however, is a bit intrusive, and elaborate for my taste. It diverts my attention, but is a creative thought.

Cheers,

Hugo
