About I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
~Joyce Kilmer, "Trees," 1914

Beautiful group of trees. Beautiful manipulations. They work together to produce a beautiful photo. And I'm sure there are many of us wondering about Dirck. Glad to hear he's escaped so far.

Rebecca, thank you for the comment. Dirck came through the last 2 storms without too much damage, they lost some trees and some shingles on the roof. I haven't heard if they got much rain from this one. I will let him know you inquired. Alison

This was one of my mother's favorite poems, and she loved trees, as I do. This is lovely. Also , I wanted to ask you how Dirck faired during the hurricanes. I haven't seen him post and have been worried about him.
