I think they are Dahlias. They certainly are a lovely colour, I really like the way they are both in focus, but the front one is saying 'I am the star'. From some of your lovely postings of various flowers/shrubs I get the mpression you are as much of a horticultorist as Den is. He does the hard work such as digging, but as far as knowing plants he is not good. We need to 'weed' together or I would be a bit short on plants.
