After reading all of these comments there is not much left to say. I find that what you like not everyone else does and that is what makes this so much fun. I think we kind of like to needle others with our pet peeves. I look at the picture and analize it for what it is. The photographer has the right to do anything he want with his work and if he is good enough to get away with something so be it. I think others are just wishing they could do the same thing. Any way this is beautiful Chris and so well done. You got away with it. Don.

Nice architctural lines to follow in this scene Chris. The red and white flower buds add a nice dash of color as well,

Thanks for the comment, Jim ~ I think I see what you mean! What I forgot to with this composite was to use a 10-15% opacity eraser on the edges of the original photo before merging with the sky!! I guess I was just working too quickly ~ something I tend to do all the time in order to cram more into every day! It's not aways a good idea though!! Have a great week!! Best regards, Chris

Hi Chris, Nice contrast and beautifully saturated tones. It brings this photo alive! Very nice garden scene, with the wall and the perspective in the path to complete the image. I see Tim commented on the Frame already, so as promised, I won't (and don't need to anymore...;o) Very nice shot, taking me away of everyday reality of a monday morning at work.... Thanks!
Cheers,
Hugo

Morning Mr S :-) I am most disappointed to see a blank "about" Nevertheless, the awesome arrangement of colourful shrubbery against the old stonewall makes up for it. What fabulous garden architecture - I can only wonder what the inside garden must look like? Would have also liked to see more detail on the ornamental gates - maybe you could bear that in mind when shooting and one day post a series on gates? Hope you will have a great, great week. Linn

Hello Pastor! Lovely work here My good Friend! Although Keith isn't real fond of the minipulated image I find nothing but beauty in it and didnt think about the sky seeming out of place here! Very nice photo! My best to You and Yours!..........JOHN

Chris
After reading all the above amd studying the photo, what I see is an almost 3d effect and its all along the edge of the original photo. maybe it is because this shot is fairly close ? And the effect is noticed. what if you blending, smudged, whatever the edge a bit?? Just my observation might mean nothing. jimc
BTW Beautiful image.

Thanks for getting back to me, Keith.
Actually, you're wrong on both counts!!
A. The two pictures were merged in PS before I used the 'glowing edge' filter, so both the top and bottom of the final image would have been subject to the same effect. And...
B. Both pictures were taken with the D70 ~ just three days apart.
And I tried so hard to find a sky that suggested the same kind of sunlight as there would have been in the original. As you can see, there are no real shadows to speak of, which suggests the sun is more-or-less overhead ~ exactly where it was when I took the sky shot!!
Of course, no camera could take this shot as it appears so, yes, it is obviously a composite! But, then, I'm not sure that bracketing would be a much better option because you still end up with a photo that no camera could take as it finally appeared.
Anyway, thanks again for getting back to me. I appreciate your input and respect your opinions.
Best regards, Chris

Chris,
well I don't actually know why, but I can tell you what I feel.
the main image feels as though its had your painterly treatment, whilst the sky feels untouched. Also the sky has a different 'quality', I don't know how to explain that one, but it is so obviously a different image. Was one taken with the D70, and the other with the Fuji ?

Thanks for the comment, Keith, but I can't let you get away without you telling me why you think it's manipulated!! It IS, of course, but why is it so obvious? I'm just not getting this thing with the light ~ can you tell me where I'm going wrong? I know I can rely on you for an honest answer!! :-) Kind regards, Chris

Hi Chris,
yes a beautifully compose image, severly let down by the sky replacment, its not like you to publish something quite so obviously manipulated. It feels like one of you early works, not upto you usual high standards I'm afraid.
Sorry thats so blunt - I know you well enough to be able to say that I hope.

A sumptuous photo yet again. Your compositions are consistently stellar. One thing though, I think that the frame on this one is really stealing the show as my eye keeps going to it rather then focusing on your fantastic photo.
warm regards,Tim
