I loe Monet's art and I took the chance by this pond in the Italian coutnryside (by the way, the pond's not there anymore). Of course I'm not Monet at all! Right-sized and cropped a bit.
Since the sky is much brighter than the whole scene you might have tried setting your exposure without the sky in the frame, over-exposing by 1/2-2/3 stop to take care of the reflection fooling your meter, locking exposure, recomposing, then cropping the sky out.
