Richard, I have PS CS. I followed someone else's suggestion as to how to do it in Photoshop but it sure didn't work here. I know that in PHotoshop there are many different ways to accomplish almost any task..what is your receipe for the noise, I'll try it!!! Lori :)

This image raises more questions than it answers. I like the lighting on the tree even though I can't put it in context. The noise/grain is easily handled if you have Photoshop or similar application.

Hi Lori, this is lovely, but I agree with Hugo, it's hard to tell which is the primary subject, is it the golden tree or the beautiful old ship. Well, I love them both, but some suggestion, maybe a bit blurred background would help (Although I don't know if you use smaller aperture would help reduce the DOF). About the noise, I think it's all right since the entire object creates a retro appearance. Cheers!

An interesting sculpture, Lori, and an even more interesting old ship behind it!! The ISO thing is so easy to do!! I've left mine on 1600 before now!! Best regards, Chris P.S. Would you be interested in a U.K. UF get together? Probably in the Midlands and probably on a Saturday in September/October?

Hi Lori, Whatever you do, DON'T add a canvas texture.....LOL! Ok, it looks like a bit of noise, but it's not so bad, I think. Nor is this shot, although I've seem much more creative approaches in your work... Maybe a different perspective and / or camera position could've added a bit of a "sparkle" (figuratively) to it...
I also think there's the issue of a duality in subjects here. I find it hard to tell what the primary subject is: the harbour view or the sculpture.
Still, I do like the view and the soft lighting. It creates the exact right atmosphere of a nice evening stroll... Very peaceful atmosphere.
Cheers,
Hugo

Lori couple things about G2's and the like. They tend to get noisier at speeds above 100 ( not all). So break out the tripod and keep the speed as low as you can. I think the color saturation is better as well but this is all my observation. Your mileage my vary. Very cool photo. i love San Diego, Flying in and landing by the water. and that mall out past the football stadium wow ! I have never seen so many well dressed, well groomed ladies anywhere in my travels. there I go again ;-( jimc

Hi Don,
Have not used Miranda noise reduction, the plugin work pretty well? I did download Neat Image, didn't seem to 'get it' (without blurring too much) You like the Miranda over NI? I'll have to go to Google and do some reading. Thanks for the tip! Lori :)

You have done a great job of seperating it from the background. It is quite interesting but not sure what kind of tree it is to represent. Guess that is art. Have you ever used Fred Miranda noise reduction plug ins? Don.
