Love the mood very nice. Try just a burst of flash near the end of the exposure.

Ahhh Greg, another person who enjoys working with the effects of light. Great first attempt. You will see in my portfolio there are many different images using different effects of light with no flash.
Thanking you also for your wonderful comment on my image "Chess blown out".

Although not a "traditional" nightshot, I am drawn by its' darkness. There is still a lot of detail, and the mood is incredibly still and creepy. I love it! ..Brad

Might have struggled with its automatic focusing as well in this light. You know I'm not right that often but I wonder if the focus is more likely to succeed if it's at a larger aperture and consequently deeper d.o.f. or shining a torch on it so ity can focus and thern turning the torch away. No harm though in setting the focus to ininfity though is there since there's just the subject and the sky. (I like the blurr for all that!) Nice angle here. Recomend you stop for a while and let me and the others catch up.

Nice and scary. David's right about the twilight thing. Also, try a tripod for an extra long exposure in the dead of night. Let's see some more night stuff.

Great first attempt.... Thank you for telling us what time you took this photo. I think if you had taken it a half hour or hour earlier the sky would be dark but it would be a dark blue rather than a black. The best night pictures are usually taken at twilight. There must have been a full moon that night or a street light to the left of the statue (I can't tell the light temperature of the moon and of street lights are similar), you might what to seperate or highlight the statue from the sky by shinning a flash light along the side of the statue.
