I can't really test it outside much until winter is closer because its still light out after I'm done with work but message me again to reminder in october or so it should be good for a try. I've heard the cmos does a better job with night than ccd but I haven't gone out and done much with either.
Jon, I have specific question for you because of your comment in forum. Could you test Nikon 8700 at ISO 50, manual focus mode setted to infinity, f/8 and bulb mode at ~ 2-3 minutes in very low ligh conditions? Night photography is my special interest, and I can't find sample images for so long exposure. I know that N-8700 has up t0 10 min. shutter at bulb setting. My current C-750 is producing awfull noise and huge amount of hot pixels at 15 seconds and images are very dark even at f2.8. D300 has only 30 sec limitation. Pro1 has only 15 sec. I really would like to find digital camera which will do great at night. By the way, this shot is great. Same great as most of your images, you have great eye.
