Yes Ellen, I agree with you. Your colour image is much nicer than the B&W version.
BUT ... I think it you tweaked some of the levels and make it more contrasting, you might just be pleasantly surprised!
I am not good at any tweaking :-)) and have very little experience with B&W and/or sepia. There are so many different ways of doing it in order to achieve different effects. I would still like to do a B&W flower - must just find the right image for it :-)
