About A reflection of my current mood - and I dedicate this to any of you who might feel the same way.

Hi Linn,
This reminds me of a 'certain filter' for which I no longer have because of a computer reformat.
By chance....do you know or have the link? I have not been successful in trying to find it. ???
Lori :)

Hello Linn --

The caption on this is perfect. The angle, softness and shadows truly do evoke a melancholy mood. I like the way the darkness envelopes the stem on one end and the next blossoms on the other. I'm finding glads to be so difficult to capture because of the way the blossoms are arranged. Once again you've done a superb job on this.

I see from your comments above that your mood has improved, and I hope all is well for you now.

Regards,
Anne

Linn, what can I say... I find the shot so perfect in every way that words fail me... Would you mind if I took a print?
I do hope you're mood has lifted at least a little since you posted this shot.

Linn this too is a beautiful composition, and the changes you made to make such a remarkable image, with title so capturing exactly the title, as well as your mood is fabulous. I always believe [well at least try to]that some good always comes out of bad experiences etc. In this case something very very creative was captured. I used to write poetry, in bad times, and had some good results and that in turn gave me hope and belief in myself

Dear Linn, Now that we've met I hope you don't mind my addressing you it this, especially as you have taken the first step and called me Rafi. This is the way most people know me, from my grandchildren to professors I used to work with until I retired and still do.
I'm glad your mood has improved, but will, unless invited, not go into any details. My e mail is rafael1930@bezeqint.net and if, and I repeat if you want to go into specifics, you are invited to do it that way. Keep doing marvelous photos,
Rafi

Ron, that is one heck of a compliment you paid me ... thank you! I am surprised that this image stirred up such a lot of emotions in viewers. But at the same time, it made me realise that I captured (and enhanced, of course) one of those images that stands out from the rest. A great achievement for me, considering my lack of experience.
Thank you for the support - you will never know how much it means to me.

Morning John!
Send me some of those treats - they are one of my favourites!

Yes, your count-down has begun! I still wish you could pop into our home-town! Don't just disappear - you have to leave me with a "Goodbye" image before you leave. And Yes, it must be pink :-)

Have a great weekend John.

Linn, you have captured the beauty of this flower and brought out the inner beauty of this flower. I would not change a thing on this masterpiece. change it and you will spoil it's beauty. THIS should be the picture of the day. This is painting with light which is what a photographer should try to obtain with every picture taken. YOU have achieved your ART in this print. If I had taken it and achieved what you did I would be jumping up and down with joy for seeing what my art could accomplish. I give this one a 20 rating... Please be happy and not sad at your art.

Linn; thanks for your comments on my "Calm" photo-- I forgot to answer your question. Yes, it was cold-- even in mid-summer it's cold on the Oregon Coast-- the ocean temp. is cold and the wind is usually blowing, but this was an unusually calm day. Cheers. Craig

Craig Garland   {K:27077} 7/10/2004
Linn; you've captured the essense of the word melancholy perfectly. The leaning blossom and darkish color(s) are somewhat sad and very expressive. Very nicely done. Craig.

Thank you for the kind words - it means a great deal to me. As I explained to Rafi, I have fought my way out of my disappointment and somber moment.

Dear Rafi

If my image evoked such senses in you, then that is a tremendous compliment to me! My mood has lifted a lot - it stemmed from a great disappointment that I experienced. I was longing for something that would have meant so much for me, but now is not the right time for it.

Thank you for your kind words.

:-)) You did a wonderful job lifting off all the filters I applied! :-))

Here is the original image - without any cropping or PS.

Over the weekend, I will post another Daffodil image - one with more blooms. I got a tuturial on dodge and burn and want to try it out! :-)

LINN THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.
Wonderful lighting, I would not have thought a gladiola would have been such a spectacular photograph. I may have to 'revisit' that particular flower!!

Nice work indeed,

Hi Linn... This is a perfect picture... I Love the texture and the colors... The details are so perfect that I can feel it as if I was touching it... Great work!!!!

Cheers,

Maria

P.S. As for your comment in my My picture "Between Light and Shadows" and your comment here... Hope you begin to feel ok soon... Do not let yourself immerse in the shadows...

I read Rafi's comment. I am one of the owners of his book, and it is really great... I recommend it to you... I am a person that has found many answers in books... Hope you feel better... and if you want you can write to me... Maybe I cannot solve your problems... but at least I can hear (Read) them... That is what frinds are for...

Margaret Strurgess didicated her "Inspired by linn" to your "Melancholy", you comment on that photo and so here I am commenting on your "Melancholy" too. There are hardly words I can find at this moment to describe the feelings this photo arouses in me and being a psychoanalyst this is uncommon for me. There must be some mystery in your photo and in your sorrow that you can express only in the way of posting this exquisite flower-photo with a tendency to darkness and the inside.
May I make so bold as to draw your attention to a psychoanalytic book I recently published. Deaspite its name "Dialogues with Schizphrenia - the Art of Psychotherapy" it deals not only with schizophrenia but with other psychological conditions as well. Furthermore, it was written with the non mantal-health professional also in mind and two Usefilm members, neither a mental-helth professional own it and have told me that they found it easy to read and interesting. It can be found on www.drspringmann.com and a great deal about it can be read for free on that site before making a decision one way or the other.
With best wishes,
Dr. Rafael (Rafi) Springmann

Morning Neil

I tried the dodging and burning "thing" but my hand was much too heavy. I need tutorials on that, as well as obviously learn the layering process. My tutorials are starting this Sunday (next level) and I am SO looking forward to it!

On this image I upped the brightness level a lot, knowing that the beautiful filter would dampen the tones a lot.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Linn

Hi Linn :(
I do hope your mood takes a turn for the better because this is a good photo. Yes, i do find it a little dark and dustre but if that reflects your mood - well :) maybe a little dodging and burning would help a not only to increase the already very good 3D effect, but also to brighten it somewhat. When you get onto your layering you will enjoy doing this and that will brighten your day :)
Best wishes - Neil

So are you feeling, dreamy? Dark? Beautiful? Or just plain down, Mrs. C.? Because this shot is all of those!

Just remember, you've got something money can't buy! Talent! An eye for a good picture! The kind of mind that instinctively knows when a composition is good or bad! All the rands in S.A. couldn't get you those things, but you already have them!

Light a candle, eat some chocolate, stroke a kitty, and smile Mrs. C.
