Interesting play!
Two very stronge path of actions. The old lady looking in the direction of the arrow above her head ( funny element!) and the lady sitting looking at us ( expressing concious element).
Mary I find your black and white series amusing as well.

You are right my friend! Definitely not an "alone? project...
The story goes like that, some days ago we were in Berlin... we went to see MOMa, Bresson's collective exhibition etc...The day we went to Wannsee I saw this Arab woman smoking at the station...I took the camera out and she felt panicked!! She tried to hide the cigarette and her face and all these... I could not keep myself from shooting as I could easily tell the difference between the German lady, dressed in a man's suit and the other woman who was a bit different but still stuck to social attributes...This was what gave me the feeling of isolation? but still as you said this is not an ?alone? image?It is the woman that creates the "tension"..I wish i could apologize for the terror, I only smiled at her trying to show I am a tourist...These are some of the problems of street photography... that the photographer "steals" a personal moment... a contradiction...

your second So? is my favorite one,Mary. i sense a lot of tension in both the living and the lifeless elements of this image. i like this picture,but i think i wouldn't submit it to the 'alone' project if it was mine.
