Margaret, what a flood of kind comments! Thank you so much... And thank you for following my suggestion to look for "statues." I have now made it easier by creating a portfolio section called, er, "statues" so it should be easy to look at just those. I include abstract art and religious figurines, so it's a rather broad category...

Thanks for your comment, I decided to look for some of your 'statues' this isn't exactly what I was expecting. great shot, really fun, quite like the giraffe. As others have commented it is nice to see 'another side of Japan' . Margaret

Another nice view on japanese life ! This giraffe is a remarkable piece of japanese design and style, different from everything else i've seen in my life. I found it at many of your statues and I like it.

Yep, Chris. Photos of them I can stand, but I can't image giving them house room. We also have a live dog... Must admit the giraffe is cool, though.

Thanks, Keith. The things you mention are EXACTLY the reasons I took this photo. I'm so glad some are "gettting it."

Roger, I think this has more to say about the culture than some of those market stall images. It shows us a different side to Japan, one which not many people get to see.
I really like this, the animals are just so strange ;-)
Good work

Right, Brad! Weird merchandise, isn't it! Just couldn't resist this shot, and I think I'll leave it up although I'm sure it won't attract much interest at Usefilm...
