Thanks for the compliment Jon, I am flattered you have added me to your friends list. I have a Sigma 300 mm F2.8 that I used on my F5 for wildlife photos, with some good results. On the D70 with a 2x extender and the digital multiplyer I now have a 900 mm F5.6 lens. Very good for wildlife. Have you tried loading any custom curves into your D70 yet? I tried one that boosts the mid range contrast slightly to good effect. Do a search in google, you will get a few hits. I will post the url for you when I get time. Thanks once again for your interest. Regards John

Thanks for your encouraging comments Neil. I'm glad you enjoy the images from 'down under' Stepping up to a digital SLR and being able to use my Nikkor lenses has certainly given me more options when out taking pics. Not that I didn't enjoy the G3. Regards John

Thanks for your comment Jeroen. I'm glad you enjoyed your time in New Zealand. This area is North of Dunedin and South of Oamaru. The Landscape is so diverse here and changes minute by minute with the light.
Right now if you brave to elements and the cold Southerly blasts from the Antarctic there are plenty of Landscape photographic opportunities. Regards John

Thanks for your kind comments once again Cindi. I think I was using the 18-70 mm at 70 mm. I also had a Cokin circular polarizer and a Cokin 2 stop Gray Grad on. The final image was cropped in Photoshop.
How do you like the D70? I have had mine for about three weeks now and so far I rate it highly. I was using a Canon G3 before and found that to be an excellent little camers. Regards John

Well John this is certainly impressive shot with the D70 - if I may ask exactly what was your focal length - I've got this lense myself. Amazing rich tones here with that subtle light in "cloud play". F11 perfect here, you want to see as much detail as possible. Very well done landscape. Kind Regards, Cindi

John,
thanks for bringing back to me good memories. About a year ago I visited NZ and I loved it. Seen these kind of hills on the road from Kaikoura to Nelson I think (but that's not near this location, right?)
Oh, and wonderful photo, of course!

Hi John - a great image. Beautiful light on the rolling hills. It seems a little dark to me (could be my monitor though) but i can appreciate the expertise involved here. I loved your comment to Roberto, you are exactly right "I also believe that the images we make say as much about us, the photographer as our subjects...". Love and admire your work! Best wishes - Neil

Thank you for your encouraging comments Roby, they are much appreciated. I belive that the art of photography is communication, with yourself and the viewer. I also believe that the images we make say as much about us, the photographer as our subjects.
We are all unique and view our environment from a unique perspective. If we can stir a reaction, good or bad, from our audience then we have achieved no small thing. A negative reaction is better than no reaction at all.
Regards John
