Beverly,
I've been looking at this image over and over again since you posted it. It really stood out but yet there was something wrong I could not figure out. I think Artie hit it on the head when he said that the peppers are too contrasty. Seems like there are values on each pepper from almost full shadow to highlight but the values are weighted toward the darker end.
Photo and lighting is really cool, but I am thinking that you may want to keep the majority of each pepper within 1-1/2 stops of light... here is looks like 2-1/2 to 3 stops. This is just a guess.
Tabletop...: I think the reflections should be a little brighter. I am not sure where I want to see the table top edge. What if you curved a plastic sheet downward at rear and got dof to just end before curve? Just an idea. I will be trying all these things out soon enough.. and you can take your turn at me! :)

Beverly I'll take this into live tonight..... this is too dark and contrasty...the silver reflector is making this cold looking......looks like you saved it dark to hold back the hot reflections on the peppers but your better off with the heat...barely noticing the glass table top.......however your frame is good.....

Another BG masterpiece. Looks like I am having to go to the local farmers market and buy some peppers, they are too pretty. Just needs a little fill in on the bottom front and some rim light on the top. Very nice arrangement.

Beverly, This is an awesome shot ... colors are very pleasing. I expected to see a medium format camera, and I must admit that I was a little surprized to see a Nikon Cool Pix 990. Man, you use that thing well! Could we chat a little thru email? richard@jam.rr.com
very nice

I like this a lot Bev, especially the stringy stuff in the basket. Adds real good texture to the beautiful peppers. I have wanted to do this one. Can't afford that many peppers at once!

I like this composition. There is a look of bounty here. I also like the lower basket height; it is more pleasing to my eye to see more fruit/veg than basket. You are really getting this lighting thing down beautifully.
