About So ... I've taken the "big step" and am actually posting an image enhanced with PS and filters! :-)

I used a lot of filters and cannot remember what they were, and ended up doing a "Dreamy Suite" filter.

This is a big change for me ... so be gentle!

I would love to hear what your favourite free plug-in filters are :-)

I have Dream Suite also, on my pc it's so slow it's annoying. I also have Elements 2 and PS7 so with all that we should be able to figure something out. OMG have you tried crackle yet ooooo ahhhhhh!

Hi Elen
I use Elements 2.0 and didn't save as .psd :-( This filter is from "Auto FX Software" and is a free plug-in. It's got beautiful dreamy effects :-)

This is absolutely stunning, well done Linn. You're a natural!! Send me an email and I'll send you the tutorial Don L.sent me. You used the term "Dreamy Suite" is that a PS filter? What version of PS do you have? If you saved this as .psd file and didn't flatten the image it will tell you exactly every step you made. Regards, Ellen

Hey Guido ... seems I can never please everybody at the same time :-) If I leave too much background, it's not right. If I leave too little, it's also not right. With "right" I mean that it doesn't suit everybody's taste :-)

So now ... I crop the way I think it should be like :-))))

Regarding the plug-ins, send me your email addie and I can forward you a list of plug-ins that I got from the "school" where I am taking the Elements tutorial. As to how to implement them, that you are going to have to figure out yourself because Robert had to do mine!

Hi Linn.
nice effect,if I may suggest following:If you would expand the black background on this,so that the flower is smaller in the frame,I think it would look nicer.
Linn, can you fill me in how to get free plug-in filters and especially how to integrate them in ps software?
best rgds Guido

Dear, sweet Jeoen :-)

You know I appreciate your frank critiques and I also enjoy discussions with you :-)

Of course your "Anna's Eye" is still a photograph, and an exceptional one too. But you yourself realised that there was more to the original that PS could/would bring out. Right? Is the original as striking? Only you would know because we haven't seen it. Would you do it again? I would hope so! :-)

Jeroen, I firmly believe that one should grow in a hobby. Sometimes we tend to go overboard and it takes an unbiased opinion to put us back on track. Will I be doing all my images "filter enhanced"? No way! To me, an original will always be one's "showcase" and portray one's ability as a photographer. But obviously, if I want to have fun and see an advantage of using filters, then yes, I would definitely do it again :-)

I want to see the other image you are not sure of posting. I am positive it is of equal outstanding quality :-)

Hi Linn,

you're absolutely right. The extreme high-key B&W Eye I posted yesterday definetely falls into that category: it's an image but is it still a photo? I had some doubts to post it. I have another one in that serie and I'm still not sure.

Well, you just convinced me: this is what the Photoart category is for!

Full (fool?) of doubts,
Jeroen

Linn--

It looks like you are having fun with enhancements, and I think this one looks good. It does have a sort of dreamy quality, and I think it makes for an interesting image.

Regards,
Anne

Good Morning Jeroen :-)

Hmmm ... what to think of your comment ...:-))

Didn't you just post that stunning, stunning B&W image of yours where you admitted that you "took it to the extreme"? And see how exceptional the result is! A masterpiece! So would you consider your image also not to belong at UF?

What about the other incredibly beautiful (and haunting) images where it is very obvious that PS has been applied in a professional manner - see how it enhanced it and made it stand out from the rest?

I think as long as one can distinguish the original image then it does belong on UF. That is why the different categories are there for, right? :-)

For my Elements tutorials, we had to experiment with filters. I am going to try and attach an image that I posted for my homework. You might recognise the original image that I posted a while ago.

I'm happy with the "filter rose" that I posted - I recognise the original work and I like the filter effects.

Groete
Linn

Linn,

I'm not going to tell wether I like it or not, but with these kind of images I start to wonder if they are at the right spot at UF. I don't have the answer, but I always start wondering....

And that's a very personal thing, BTW

Regards,
Jeroen
