Hi Kathleen, you resumed better than me the reasons I love this picture. I used the camera's flash, so things got really weird with all those mixed color temperatures. That's what lightened the trees. And that white tree is amazing, weird. It's really surreal, the light straights from cars moving, the car tops I don't see any reason for cropping, as said another reviewer. It'd turn this surreal image into a common "cloud on sunset" picture. The way it is, in my vision, it is pure "americana". The grandeur of nature X the grandeur of americans. I'll post another, more common picture done at the same day, at the same parking lot. It's closer to common, but there's something on it that also brings me the theme - americana - to my mind. I love to experiment. It's when we take risks that we create great things. Otherwise, it's kinda "who does the best common thing". Has its value, but I believe there's a lot more to live than just "live safely"... Thanks for the comments. Really helpful, Kathleen. Best regards from Brazil! José Azevedo.
neat experiment, Jose..i love the weird light in parking lots and what it does to the trees and shrubs all around. i too have stood in the cold and tried to capture what i saw but you did a LOT better! All the light and color is so weird and garish and the effect is so surreal that i even like the car tops..that cloud is so strange and hugely, uh, PINK! My fave thing about this image is that feathery white tree with the gold on it..i love that tree! best regards from Costa Rica: kat~
