Fantastic perspective, rich in texture and gold tones. Magnificent moon reflection, like a beckoning light. The angle is tremendous.

Hi Hugo, thanks for your kind comment!! The WB for this kind of night photography was in Auto ( only in studio I feel it's necessary to fine tune it because it can change dramatically. ) As for all the explanations on how I did this photo and others taken in the same day, please read below my reply to Richard Thornton who asked the same thing. Really....I'm the first one to be amazed at the results...but never forget the tripod!!! Many kisses, Antonella

Hi Dick, first let me thank you for your kind comment. As I said I fell on the Voigtlander lens by chance as it isn't that popular here either. I happened to find it in a camera exchange/market. I really think it's great. During this trip with Paolo Di Maio the other lens I brought along broke down to my deepest grief,so most of these photos are taken with the Voigtlander. As for the ISO speed...well,to tell you the truth I really thought I could have NEVER done a decent picture, but at times I feel one has to be daring. So I waited until very late at night ( or better...early morning at 1/ 2 a.m. set the noise reduction on ( extremely important ! ) and placed the camera on the tripod making sure to give a f 22 for maximum depth of field. ....And I waited patiently while, during the first few shots, I really feared that the shutter was blocked. 30 sec. seems a lifetime!!! But,as far as I could see, it worked! A suggestion : when you post -process your work ( I even done it at 3200 ISO when it was practically pitch black ) open up the image 100% and watch if there is any pixelation. If yes, apply a median filter ( from the noise filter in PS ) at treshold one and watch out for the sharpening which must be very careful. Well.....I delivered all my tricks and I hope I have been exhaustive, although I'm not a PS wizard. Many thanks for your interest!! Goodnight! Antonella

Ooow! Antonella! Very original shot, the perspective does it for me. The gradiented lighting provides a nice sense of distance, and the reflection of the moon adds a very nice touch.
I do feel that the centered reflection removes a bit of the tension and the atmosphere of the late night. (is this shot by any chance taken on the same night as "Porta San Giovanni"?) The brown, warm tones are excellent. What WB did you use?
I bought a D100 two weeks ago, and have been playing for it intensively. I do think the quality of a 1600 (and higher) sensitivity are rather poor to the camera's less sensitive performance...
Cheers,
Hugo

Very nice, with the reflection adding an extra touch. Again, I must comment on the lens. I'd like to hear more about it since I don't think it's available here. I suppose I will have to crank up the ISO to 1600 some time and try it. Your results are great!

What is striking is the gradual distribution of light at the same time releasing all the sepia colortones and beautiful contrasts. Very good "night" work. H+K, Rob.

Another of these amazing low light pictures. It's a significant expansion of your repertoire! Of course I don't know how many failures you had along the way, but all the ones I see here are really excellent. (I also like to see the word "Voigtlander" on the lens you are using.)
