Hi Steve, you have a great eye for a photo! I love the DOF here and it is really interesting. On the thumbnail i couldn't tell what it was but now i know. Great shot. The big red thing (here at the Columbia, MD Tar-zhay) is actually a large, red, concrete globe. There are several of them along the sidewalk next to the parking lot... DON'T run into one of these, man, or you're toast!
I've attached an "environmental" photo to show them more in context.
When I saw these big red globes, my mind went: "Red... curve... strong diagonal... repeating pattern... SHOOT! SHOOT! SHOOT!!!!!!

Great composition -- the background blur is excellent --- I think that red thing in the front is one of those darn poles, painted red for visibility so that you can't miss 'em, that I ran into at our local Tar-shay...it just appreared in front of my grill as I ran into it....and ya gotta luv the red === Kev
