It should be okay to run the batteries down until the camera switches off, 'cause they won't be completely dead. Just don't leave them like that for months.

ya and thats just it ...I am never sure if I am suppose to run them dead they are nickel-metal hydride battery so is that the kind you don't run dead dead?

Robert.... It is a picture of my Imac computer flat screen as I spun in my chair clicking away trying to make sure that the battery was dead dead...lol.... fun...enjoy

This is a great capture, well composed and superbely captured. Good lighting, very nice shadow of the tree
