Very pleased so many folks like this. There's a strangely out-of-place naval museum in Hackensack, NJ (!), on the Hackensack River, which is little more than a ribbon of mud. Went there on Easter Sunday. It was closed, but we had the run of the outdoor exhibits, including guns and mines and suicide subs and like that.
As some may've noticed, this year I've turned more and more to B&W, using obsolescent tech (in this case the same film and developer I used in the 60's) to get a certain bleak, gritty, rusty, patinated look. Also I prefer to shoot either interiors or (as here) gray days.
This is great, Leslie. I didn't think it looked like much in the thumbnail, but boy, am I glad I opened the actual photo!
Not only is the texture of the gun barrel interesting, but you've created a wonderful composition. I like that you even got a little bit of texture in the wall just behind the gun mount.
Oh, this is SUCH a superb high-contrast shot. I love printing on hard paper, and you made this image sing. The grain and grit on the barrel compliments the same textures on the bolts below. Excellent!
