It is a strong image... I like that the woman is so clearly separated from the background, not necessarily because of different degrees of focus (the background could be even more blurry but that is my taste), but that the colors, saturation of the colors, as well as the light on the woman all contribute to the contrast. With a tree such as that, it is difficult to find the best angle, especially if you have a few seconds to make the shot, and I think you found a good one after considering the alternatives.

Charlie, a wonderful spiritually oriented picture my dear friend! a rare rare capture indeed of the devout Buddhist lady! I still feel very very sad about what happened in your beautiful city of Madrid... but at least you and your family are okay..your friend, jon

great background indeed, good use of DOF, since it makes the background blurry, but not too blurry, so you can still enjoy it. The expression of the woman is captured wonderwell, but I wish a bit I could see something of her eyes.

Charlie, the background here is just SO damned good that it takes away from the worshipper. But perhaps that's my lack of experience, as maybe it was intentional?? There is a strong balance in the tree, the bone white wall, and the purple garb. This is very, very nice!
